Bert and his 1966 Cadillac’s Cross-country Adventure
Not a 1966 Cadillac Restoration Project but Just as Important
Meet our customer, Bert. For fifteen years, he’s been planning a cross-country adventure in his 1966 Cadillac deVille convertible that would take him from his upstate New York home out to California along the historic Route 66. In 2018, he finally was able to make the time to do it.
While the car was in our facility earlier this year we inspected all aspects of the classic, restored the heat/a/c system from hose to sensors to control unit for those hot summer days driving through America’s southwest and made cosmetic improvements so a proper impression was made throughout the journey. And over the past three years, CPR has completely rebuilt the engine, transmission, suspension and brakes, as well as installed new upholstery, carpeting and trunk lining kit.
His trip took him to the Chicago area where he linked up with Route 66 and followed the legendary roadway south and west eventually making it to Winslow, Arizona where he and his car posed for a photo at the corner made famous by the Eagles song. Route 66 is full of nostalgia dating back to a time when the automobile was still the primary mode of long distance travel and iconic way points like Winslow make for a memorable trip.
Their travels ultimately took them to the terminus of Route 66 at the pier in Santa Monica, CA. But the trip didn’t end their as the adventurers soaked in, and added to, Southern California’s famous car culture by exploring the state and traveling along the famous and scenic Pacific Coast Highway. Along the way, many memories and friends were made during the trouble-free journey.
We were honored that Bert trusted Cadillac Parts & Restoration to prepare his vehicle for this trip of a lifetime. He reported back that in addition to “getting his kicks on Route 66,” his 1966 Cadillac was trouble-free and did not leak a drip or burn any oil along the way. See more photos below.
“Since 2015, I’ve been sending my car to CPR and it’s among the best decisions I’ve made,” said Adams. “Between the engine & transmission rebuild and all of the work they’ve performed, my 1966 Cadillac runs and looks fantastic. I’ve wanted to make this road trip for a very long time and thanks to Frank and his team at Cadillac Parts & Restoration, I was able to do so with absolutely no worries and zero troubles.”
Although this was not a 1966 Cadillac restoration project, it is a perfect example of the important classic Cadillac maintenance and repair work CPR performs for our customers. Preserving automotive history by keeping these classics running well is as important to us as our restoration work.
